Electro Magnetic Compatibility (EMC)

This section provides detailed information about Electro Magnetic Compatibility (EMC) for each OMRON electrical product. As the use of electronic devices such as PCs and mobile phones continues to grow, medical devices can become vulnerable to electromagnetic interference, potentially leading to incorrect operation and unsafe situations. Likewise, medical devices should not cause interference with other equipment.

To ensure safety and compliance, OMRON adheres to the EN60601-1-2 standard for EMC. This standard specifies immunity levels to electromagnetic interference and limits the electromagnetic emissions from medical devices.

OMRON Healthcare products are designed to meet the EN60601-1-2 standard, ensuring both immunity and emissions compliance. You can find references to this standard in the product’s instruction manual.

Important Precautions:

Use of Accessories and Cables: Only use accessories and cables specified by OMRON. Using unapproved items may increase emissions or reduce the device’s immunity.
Device Placement: Avoid placing medical devices adjacent to or stacked with other equipment. If necessary, monitor the device to ensure proper operation in the intended configuration.
Portable RF Communications Devices: Keep portable RF communication devices (and peripherals like antenna cables and external antennas) at least 30 cm (12 inches) away from the device and its specified cables during use. Failure to do so may degrade device performance.
